Our values and non-negotiables

Twee medewerkers van Veolia

Veolia ensures strict compliance with the international laws and treaties governing people’s human and social rights, both within the company and with its stakeholders. The Group’s cultural diversity is integral to these values and rules of conduct.

Responsibility

Veolia takes responsibility for promoting the harmonious development of territories and for improving the living conditions of people concerned by its activities. Internally, one of the Group’s priorities is to develop its employees’ skills and protect their health and safety at work.

Community Spirit

The community spirit requirement includes all our relations with our stakeholders. It is exemplified by the constant search for solutions that will provide essential services to as many people as possible.

Respect

Through their behavior, all Veolia employees must comply with the law, the Group’s internal rules, and respect other people.

Innovation

In order to serve its customers, the environment and society, Veolia places research and innovation at the center of its strategy to create tomorrow’s sustainable solutions.

Customer focus

Veolia works to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of its services. Listening to its customers means the Group is able to meet their technical, economic, environmental and societal expectations by offering tailored, innovative solutions.

Our non-negotiables

At Veolia, ethics, safety and sustainable development are the fundamental pillars of our business. These three criteria are absolutely non-negotiable for us and are at the heart of everything we do. They are embedded in our DNA and determine how we work daily, make decisions and build relationships with our stakeholders. Whether for small projects or major challenges, we never deviate from these essential principles that form the foundation of our corporate culture and long-term vision.

Ethics

The Ethics Guide provides a reference for all Veolia employees. Available on the corporate websites and the intranet, it outlines the Group’s values, rules of conduct and actions backed by its purpose.

The values underpin the Group’s economic, social and environmental performances. They are also reflected in the skills and attitudes that each employee at Veolia is committed to implementing daily.

A behavior charter for managers has also been introduced, thereby ensuring that the Group’s core values are shared and respected in every entity.

Safety

Safety is an absolute priority at Veolia. We aim for 'zero accidents' through a systematic safety policy compliant with ISO 45.001, actively involving our collaborators. Our approach is based on three pillars: prevention, training and continuous improvement.

The foundation of our safety policy consists of thorough risk analyses at organisational, functional and workplace levels. For each identified risk, we develop targeted measures. New employees are mentored and receive comprehensive safety instructions. For experienced staff, we regularly organise 'toolbox talks' on specific safety topics.

Special attention is given to road safety. We invest in safe vehicles with optimally adjusted mirrors and low-entry cabins to minimise blind spots. At our sites, we implement the 'Restricted areas' system to protect pedestrians.

To embed safety in our corporate culture, we take various initiatives such as the annual Safety Day, where all employees receive increased awareness, and the Work Safely app for reporting hazardous situations. Our '10 Life Saving Rules', rules to prevent serious accident risks, form the non-negotiable basis for working safely.
